2025 Budget to Focus on Agricultural Development – Governor Oyebanji

Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to enhancing food security through increased agricultural investment in the 2025 budget. He outlined this vision during an inspection of the “Bring Youth Back into Agriculture Project” in Oke Ako, Iyemero, and Gede in the northern senatorial districts of Ekiti State on Saturday.

Governor Oyebanji stressed that the primary goal of the 2025 budget is to significantly boost agricultural production to ensure food sufficiency for the people of Ekiti. He highlighted ongoing collaborations with agribusiness investors and young farmers as part of the state’s broader strategy to make Ekiti the “food basket” of the nation.

“We are focusing on agriculture to ensure that we can grow enough food to feed Ekiti people. This initiative, which we started months ago, is already showing positive results, and the youths in the state have responded with dedication and hard work,” Oyebanji said.

The governor, accompanied by top government officials, noted that over the past two years, his administration has prioritized agricultural investments, strengthened farmer capacities, and established markets for local produce. He praised the support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for providing the necessary backing to expand the state’s agricultural sector.

Governor Oyebanji also emphasized that the 2025 budget would not only concentrate on agriculture but also prioritize the welfare of citizens. He mentioned plans to improve infrastructure, especially roads leading to farms, and scale up security and electricity access for agricultural operations.

“Next year’s budget will focus on welfare and agriculture. We have made significant progress in infrastructure, education, and health, but now the time has come to focus on feeding our people,” the governor stated.

The governor’s visit was part of an effort to assess the success of the agriculture project aimed at revitalizing youth participation in farming. The initiative includes providing free land clearance and subsidized inputs by fifty percent for the youth, a move the governor said has been instrumental in driving productivity.

The governor also announced plans for rehabilitating the Ayedun-Oke Ako road and providing electricity to the town, assuring the community of continued infrastructural support.
