Gwarzo Inaugurates Implementation Committee For Renewed Hope Housing Project

The Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Abdullahi Tijjani Gwarzo, has inaugurated the members of the Renewed Hope Housing Project Implementation Committee. The committee comprises representatives from select departments in the Ministry and Project Development partners.

During the inauguration, the minister emphasized the importance of commitment, diligence, compassion, and excellence in discharging the committee’s duties. Among the committee’s terms of reference is to monitor the practical progress of the Renewed Hope Estates and Cities Housing project being developed in Karsana, Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.

Additionally, the committee has been tasked with formulating comprehensive strategies to drive forward the housing agenda, particularly focusing on the speedy completion of the 3112 Renewed Hope Estates and Cities project.

In his remarks, Minister Gwarzo underscored the significance of addressing the housing needs of citizens, highlighting access to safe and affordable housing as crucial for sustainable development and social cohesion. He emphasized the transformative power of housing to provide shelter, security, stability, a sense of belonging, and empowerment for individuals and families.

Encouraging the committee members, Gwarzo urged them to carry out their responsibilities with optimism, determination, and a shared sense of purpose to ensure meaningful progress. He expressed confidence in overcoming challenges and seizing opportunities to create a more equitable and sustainable future through the Housing and Urban Development sectors.

The Permanent Secretary, Dr. Marcus Ogunbiyi, provided an update on the project’s progress in Karsana, noting commendable progress towards meeting the completion deadline. He outlined some of the committee’s terms of reference, including project monitoring and evaluation, monthly project review meetings, and overseeing the profiling and identification of project off-takers.

In response, Damola Akindolire, speaking on behalf of the Committee members, assured the Minister of the prompt delivery of the project within the earmarked period. He emphasized the commitment of the ministry to collaboration and partnership, highlighting the Renewed Hope initiative as a testament to the government’s dedication to providing accessible and affordable housing for Nigerians.

“The Renewed Hope is not just rhetoric but a commitment by the present administration to give Nigerians a sign of relief that houses can be available and affordable,” Akindolire stated.

As the committee begins its work, stakeholders anticipate significant strides towards achieving the goal of ensuring every individual has access to safe, affordable, and dignified housing in Nigeria.
