Nigerian Petroleum Marketers Register with Dangote Refinery Ahead of June Petrol Launch
Lagos, June 10, 2024 — As Nigerians eagerly anticipate the availability of petrol from the Dangote Petrochemical Refinery this month, petroleum marketers have begun the registration process with the company in preparation for loading the product.
The marketers are signing up as independent business proprietors to request direct fuel supply from the oil refinery, signaling a significant shift in the country’s petroleum supply chain.
The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has expressed its intention to engage in ongoing discussions with the Dangote Refinery to secure bulk supplies for its members. This move aims to assist those who may face difficulties in purchasing large quantities of petrol directly from the refinery.

Aliko Dangote, President of the Dangote Group, recently announced that the distribution of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) would commence in June. This development marks a pivotal moment for Nigeria’s energy sector, as it signals the discontinuation of petrol importation into the country.
In a statement, IPMAN said, “We are in active discussions with the Dangote Refinery to ensure that our members, especially those unable to purchase large quantities of petrol, can still benefit from direct supply. This collaboration will help stabilize the market and ensure a consistent supply of fuel across the nation.”
The Dangote Refinery, the largest single-train refinery in the world, is expected to revolutionize Nigeria’s petroleum industry by providing a steady supply of refined products, thereby reducing dependence on imports and stabilizing fuel prices.
Petroleum marketers across the country are optimistic about the benefits of direct access to the refinery’s products. A marketer from Lagos, who preferred to remain anonymous, stated, “This is a game-changer for us. With direct supply from the Dangote Refinery, we expect improved margins and better control over our supply chain.”
As the registration process continues, industry stakeholders and consumers alike await the refinery’s impact on the local petroleum market. The commencement of petrol distribution from the Dangote Refinery is poised to usher in a new era of energy independence and economic growth for Nigeria.
