EFCC Arrests Fake Military Officers for Impersonating CDS
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has apprehended three individuals for allegedly impersonating military officers and defrauding the public under the guise of the Chief of Defence Staff’s office. The suspects, Dennis Baba Wdony, Wycliffe Midala, and Samuel Kayode Melaye, were arrested on Wednesday, June 26, 2024.

Investigations revealed that the suspects operated as a three-man syndicate, advertising fake bids for contracts purportedly issued by the office of the Chief of Defence Staff. Their fraudulent activities were uncovered following numerous petitions received by the EFCC.

In one of the petitions, a victim reported losing N21 million to the syndicate’s deceitful schemes. The suspects are accused of exploiting their false identities to lure unsuspecting individuals into their scam.
The EFCC has stated that the suspects will face charges in court upon the conclusion of ongoing investigations.
