NIGERIAN TROOPS REPEL ATTACKS, ELIMINATE SIX TERRORISTS IN BORNO STATE

Nigerian troops deployed in Mallam Fatori, Borno State, successfully repelled a terrorist attack on Tuesday, eliminating six insurgents during a fierce exchange of fire. The assault, which involved the use of armed drones and mortars by the terrorists, was swiftly countered through a coordinated response by the troops, reinforced by the main force from Sector 3 of Operation Hadin Kai.


According to military sources, the attackers launched a surprise offensive on the troops’ defensive positions, resulting in injuries to several soldiers and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF). Reinforcements were quickly mobilized, enabling the troops to regain the initiative and repel the enemy assault.
Items recovered from the terrorists after the confrontation included five AK-47 rifles, eight AK-47 magazines, 258 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, 39 assorted rounds, five RPG bombs, four armed drone bombs, 36 hand grenades, two bandoliers, and an Android phone. Reports indicate that several terrorist bodies were evacuated by their fleeing comrades into the nearby Tumbuns waterways.
In a follow-up operation, the Nigerien Air Force launched precision airstrikes on the retreating terrorists, neutralizing additional suspects and disrupting their escape routes across the border region.


Military officials confirmed that the morale of the troops remains high. The Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) continues to provide real-time situational awareness through surveillance platforms, as well as medical evacuation support. All wounded personnel are reported to be in stable condition.


Meanwhile, clearance operations and reconnaissance patrols of the surrounding waterways are ongoing as of the time of filing this report.
