7 PERSONS KILLED IN KANO CRASH, NOT 30 AS REPORTED
Kano, Nigeria — February 10, 2026
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has clarified reports surrounding the recent road traffic crash in Kano State, confirming that seven (7) persons lost their lives in the incident, contrary to earlier media reports claiming 30 fatalities.
In a statement issued by the Corps Public Education Officer, Mr. Segun Ogungbemide, the FRSC explained that the confirmed casualty figure was established through an on-the-spot assessment and verified rescue operations carried out by its operatives at the crash scene.
The Corps urged members of the public and media organisations to rely on officially confirmed information from relevant authorities in order to avoid the spread of misinformation and the creation of unnecessary public anxiety.
According to preliminary investigations conducted by the FRSC, the crash was caused by speed violation, which eventually led to loss of control by the driver involved.
The FRSC reiterated its call for motorists to adhere strictly to speed limits and other traffic regulations, emphasizing that responsible driving remains critical to reducing road traffic crashes and saving lives across the country.
