
The Ogun State Government has allocated N3.5 billion for its ongoing ‘Educash transfer’ program aimed at supporting indigent students across primary, secondary, and tertiary institutions. Under the leadership of Governor Dapo Abiodun, the initiative seeks to alleviate financial burdens on students and their families while promoting access to education.
According to the Ogun State Government twitter handle @OGSG_Official, approximately 100,000 indigent pupils in public primary and secondary schools, along with 50,000 tertiary students nationwide, are set to benefit from the disbursement. So far, over 40,000 students and pupils in primary and secondary schools have already received support through the program.

Speaking on the initiative, the Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology, ProfessorArigbabu, emphasized the government’s commitment to inclusivity, ensuring that no deserving student is left behind. He highlighted the disbursement breakdown, revealing that nearly 50,000 tertiary students will receive funds totaling over N2.5 billion, while 100,000 primary and secondary students will collectively receive N1 billion.
Acknowledging the logistical challenges of reaching all beneficiaries, the Commissioner assured parents of a systematic and transparent payment process. He encouraged parents experiencing delays to report any issues through school principals for prompt resolution.

Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, Mrs. Ronke Soyombo, urged parents to prioritize their children’s education, emphasizing the importance of utilizing the funds for educational purposes.
Parents expressed gratitude for the initiative, affirming their commitment to ensuring the funds are used responsibly for their children’s education. Mrs. Oyefeso Blessing and Mrs. Oluwayemi Osolukoya, parents of indigent students at Methodist Comprehensive College, Sagamu, praised Governor Abiodun for his dedication to supporting education in the state.
Mrs. Yusuf Sekinat, a parent at St. James Anglican Primary School, Iperu-Remo, echoed similar sentiments, thanking the Governor for the financial assistance and pledging to utilize the funds for the benefit of her child.
The ‘Educash’ program underscores the Ogun State Government’s commitment to promoting inclusive education and supporting vulnerable students to access quality learning opportunities. As disbursements continue, the initiative is expected to positively impact the educational landscape, empowering students to realize their full potential.
The program’s reach extends across various schools, including St. Saviours Anglican Primary School, Ikenne-Remo, Christ Apostolic Grammar School, Iperu, and Ansar-Ud-Deen School 1, Iperu-Remo, among others, demonstrating its widespread impact across the state.
