PRESIDENT TINUBU REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO ECONOMIC SECURITY IN MEETING WITH AFENIFERE LEADERS
President Bola Tinubu reiterated his administration’s steadfast commitment to achieving comprehensive economic security for Nigeria while addressing foundational challenges and fostering fairness and equity for all citizens during a meeting with leaders of Afenifere, the esteemed Yoruba Socio-Cultural Organization.
In the discussions held at the State House in Abuja on Wednesday, President Tinubu underscored the administration’s determination to restructure Nigeria’s financial landscape and enhance citizens’ purchasing power. He emphasized the importance of instituting a credit system to boost prosperity and ensure that cash constraints do not hinder an improved standard of living for all Nigerians.
“We are dedicated to the economic prosperity of our nation. To revamp our financial sector, we must take decisive action. We are committed to reinvigorating economic opportunities and continuing the incremental steps necessary for progress,” President Tinubu remarked.
Addressing the issue of education and unemployment, President Tinubu emphasized the government’s focus on empowering youths through investments in education and the establishment of programs like the National Student Loan Programme. He also highlighted plans to provide social security for vulnerable citizens and enhance purchasing power through initiatives like the Consumer Credit Scheme.
Regarding security, President Tinubu reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to Nigeria’s unity and constitutional democracy. He pledged to tackle terrorism, banditry, and kidnapping head-on, emphasizing that those who threaten Nigeria’s sovereignty will face severe consequences.
“We have made significant strides in degrading terrorism and addressing security threats. Banditry and kidnapping will be eradicated, and there will be no tolerance for ransom payments. We are intensifying efforts to ensure the safety and security of all Nigerians,” President Tinubu asserted.
The President expressed gratitude to the Afenifere delegation for their support and prayers, reaffirming his dedication to advancing Nigeria’s interests and prosperity.
In response, His Royal Majesty, Oba Olu Falae, commended President Tinubu for his leadership and decisive actions, particularly in infrastructure development. He urged continued efforts to promote fairness, equity, and constitutional amendments to empower states.
“We appreciate the President’s commitment to Nigeria’s progress and pledge our continued support. Strengthening this relationship is crucial for Nigeria’s future,” Oba Olu Falae stated.
