ABUJA, NIGERIA – MAY 24, 2026
The Nigerian Air Force has reiterated its commitment to the welfare of its personnel and their families, emphasizing that the strength of any military institution depends not only on operational effectiveness but also on the wellbeing, stability, and morale of its members.
Defence Correspondent Olajide Bello reports that the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, stated this during the NAFOWA Neighbourhood Market Initiative held at the Idu Industrial Layout in Abuja.
Air Marshal Aneke described the initiative as a laudable programme designed to support families of Nigerian Air Force personnel by improving access to affordable goods and essential services. He noted that the market initiative reflects the Nigerian Air Force Officers’ Wives Association’s commitment to enhancing the welfare of military families and promoting economic empowerment among women.
The Chief of the Air Staff commended NAFOWA for its consistent efforts towards improving the living conditions of personnel and their dependants, stressing that welfare remains a key component of operational efficiency and national security.
He further assured officers, airmen, and their families that the Nigerian Air Force leadership would continue to support initiatives aimed at boosting morale, strengthening family ties, and improving the overall quality of life within the military community.
The NAFOWA Neighbourhood Market Initiative is expected to provide a platform for affordable trading, encourage entrepreneurship, and foster stronger community relations among personnel and residents in the area.
