The Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, has charged personnel of the Nigerian Navy to redouble their efforts in combat and maritime operations as the service continues to consolidate on successes recorded in protecting the nation’s territorial waters and critical national assets.
Vice Admiral Abbas gave the charge during an interdenominational Sunday service held in Calabar as part of activities marking the 70th anniversary celebration of the Nigerian Navy.
Represented at the event, the Naval Chief emphasized the need for officers and ratings to remain committed, disciplined, and professional in the discharge of their constitutional responsibilities, especially in the fight against maritime crimes and other security threats within the nation’s waterways.
He noted that the Nigerian Navy has continued to record significant achievements in safeguarding the maritime domain through enhanced surveillance, strategic partnerships, and sustained combat operations.
The Chief of Naval Staff also commended officers, ratings, and their families for their sacrifices and dedication to national service over the years, urging them to continue to uphold the core values of the Navy.
The interdenominational service featured prayers for the nation, the Armed Forces, and the continued peace, unity, and security of Nigeria.
Oba Hycent reports that the anniversary celebration is expected to feature several activities aimed at showcasing the achievements and operational capabilities of the Nigerian Navy over the past seven decades.
