AAC Adopts Sowore as Consensus Presidential Candidate

Abuja, Nigeria — May 27, 2026

The African Action Congress (AAC) has officially adopted Omoyele Sowore as its consensus presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections.
Speaking during the party’s 2027 presidential primary held in Abuja, the chairman of the committee overseeing the exercise, Kayode Babayemi, said the decision reflected the confidence and trust the party reposes in Sowore’s commitment to genuine democracy and good governance.

Babayemi noted that the AAC remains committed to promoting transparent leadership, accountability, and people-oriented policies, adding that Sowore embodies the ideals and vision of the party.
He described the adoption of Sowore as a consensus candidate as a strategic step aimed at strengthening the party’s preparations ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

In his remarks, Sowore expressed appreciation to party members and supporters for the confidence placed in him, pledging to continue championing democratic values, social justice, and national development.
The former presidential candidate also reiterated his commitment to building a Nigeria founded on equity, accountability, and opportunities for all citizens.

The AAC leadership said the party would intensify grassroots mobilization and political engagement across the country as part of efforts to position itself strongly ahead of the 2027 polls.
