Abuja–Kaduna Train is Back ! Service Resumes October 1, 2025

Abuja, Nigeria – September 29, 2025

The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has officially announced the resumption of train services along the Abuja–Kaduna corridor, beginning Wednesday, October 1, 2025.
This welcome development comes after weeks of suspended operations due to a derailment incident that occurred on August 26, 2025, near Asham Station. According to a statement signed by Callistus Unyimadu, the NRC’s Chief Public Relations Officer, the suspension was necessary to allow for extensive repairs and safety checks on the affected section of the track.

“Train services will resume on Wednesday, 1st October 2025, following the completion of repairs and safety checks on the affected section of the track at Asham Station,” the statement reads.
The NRC emphasized its ongoing commitment to passenger safety and comfort, assuring the public that all necessary precautions have been taken to ensure safe travel along the route.
The statement also revealed that the NRC has processed ticket refunds for 512 out of 583 passengers who were aboard the derailed train, and expressed regret for the inconvenience caused by the disruption in service.

“We sincerely regret the inconvenience caused by the suspension of train services due to the derailment incident,” the statement added.
The Abuja–Kaduna railway line is a vital transportation link for commuters and travelers between Nigeria’s capital and the commercial hub of Kaduna. The return of service is expected to ease road traffic and offer a safer, faster travel alternative.
Passengers are advised to check official NRC platforms for updated schedules and ticket information.
