Governor of has formally announced his resignation from the (PDP) and his defection to the (APC), marking a significant political shift in the North-East state.
In a statewide broadcast delivered from the Government House in Yola, Governor Fintiri stated that his decision followed extensive consultations with political stakeholders, community leaders, and supporters across the state. He emphasized that the move was motivated by his desire to strengthen governance in Adamawa and align the state more closely with the Federal Government.
According to the governor, joining the APC would enable Adamawa State to better key into the “Renewed Hope” agenda of President , particularly in the areas of infrastructure development, economic growth, security, and youth empowerment.
Governor Fintiri described his years in the PDP as “a period of growth and service,” expressing appreciation to party members for their support throughout his political journey.
However, he noted that the evolving political landscape and the need for greater synergy between the state and federal governments influenced his decision to cross over to the ruling party.
He assured residents that his administration would remain focused on delivering dividends of democracy, regardless of party affiliation. “My commitment has always been to the people of Adamawa State,” he said. “This decision is about accelerating development and ensuring our state is not left behind in the national scheme of things.”
