ADC Constitutes Ogun Congress Committee Ahead of Statewide Party Exercise

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has taken a concrete step toward internal reorganisation, inaugurating a Congress Committee for Ogun State to oversee its forthcoming party congresses across multiple levels.

The committee’s composition was formalised through an official appointment letter dated April 2, 2026, signed by the party’s National Organising Secretary, Prince Chinedu Idigo. Hon. Jimoh Olaifa will chair the committee, with Arc. Bashiru Aremu Lawal serving as Secretary. Other members include Hon. Musa Odujobi, Hon. Yemisi Adegoke, and Mr. Kunle Ashiru.

The congress schedule is tight and moves quickly. Screening kicks off on April 7, followed by an appeals window on April 8. April 9 is the busiest day — polling unit, ward, and local government congresses all hold on the same date, including the election of a national delegate, with appeals to follow on April 10. The state congress and election of 12 national delegates are scheduled for April 11, and final appeals will be heard on April 12.

The committee carries a clear mandate — set up Local Government Area congress committees, conduct congresses at every level, and ensure the process is free, fair, and transparent from start to finish. Members are also required to submit comprehensive reports and lists of successful candidates to the National Organising Secretary once the exercise is concluded.

The ADC has been explicit about its expectations: strict compliance with party guidelines and full accountability throughout. The move reflects the party’s push to tighten its internal structure and lay the groundwork for credible leadership selection ahead of future political contests in Ogun State.
