After Her Controversial Tweet About The Queen, Uju Anya Says That Her life Is In Danger

Uju Anya; an associate professor of applied linguistics at Carnegie Mellon University says that her life has been in danger since her controversial tweet about The Queen.

Though her tweet was taken down by Twitter as it violated their policies, Anya stated that a lot of fake accounts have been created to spread false news about her.

Also, she said that she’s been linked with the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB) by some people because the group praised her for the comments she made about Her Royal Majesty.

Uju, during an interview with Punch, said; “I feel like my life is in danger. I don’t feel safe anymore because of these lies being peddled around against me. I left Facebook four years ago. I don’t have a Facebook account. People are putting out fake statements, saying I am a member and financier of IPOB or Independent Biafra or any political candidate like that, and they are using a fake Facebook account that bears my name. It is a lie. There is nothing like that.

“Some online blogs have been peddling fake rumors about me. I have not issued any statement since Thursday. The PUNCH is the first and (will be) the only Nigerian medium I have spoken to.

“It is urgent that the world knows that these people are trying to put me in harm’s way. Nothing that anybody sees with my name on Facebook is true. I am not a member of IPOB.

“They are using me for political movements and messages that I do not align with, and they are seriously damaging me and my safety.

“This is going to be a huge problem for me. What if the Nigerian government considers me a terrorist and wants to arrest me? They are putting my life in danger.”

Many notable personalities like Jeff Bezos and Piers Morgan criticised and condemned Uju Anya and her comment about The Queen, but she has remained unapologetic about it and she even appreciated the support that she’s been getting from fellow Nigerians on account of her tweet.

Nollywood actor; Yul Edochie also commended her for “speaking for his people”.

After watching her interview online, Yul Edochie took to his Twitter handle to thank Uju for speaking the truth for his people and Uju in return acknowledged his appreciation.

What is your view on this matter? Does Uju deserve the hate she’s getting from many folks online or do you agree with Yul that she’s telling the truth?

Express your thoughts in the comments section.
