Anti-Graft War: China’s Consul General Seeks Enhanced Bilateral Law Enforcement Cooperation

The Acting Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Lagos, Yue Wang, has called for strengthened bilateral cooperation and enhanced information sharing between the Chinese Consulate and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Nigeria.
Accompanied by the Second Secretary of the Consulate, Kai Liu, Wang made the call during a courtesy visit on March 6, 2026, to the Acting Zonal Director of the EFCC, ACE I Bawa Usman Kaltungo, at the Lagos Zonal Directorate 2.
The visit focused on opportunities for collaboration in combating financial crimes, cross-border criminal activities, and other economic offences. Both parties discussed mechanisms for information exchange, joint investigations, and capacity building to strengthen anti-corruption and law enforcement efforts.
Officials noted that improved coordination between the Chinese Consulate and the EFCC would enhance the effectiveness of investigations into financial crimes involving Nigerian and Chinese interests and ensure timely intelligence sharing to curb illicit activities.
