Following the All Progressives Congress’s (APC) victory in the Edo governorship election, the party’s national chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has outlined ambitious plans to consolidate its political dominance. In a statement made on Monday, September 23, Ganduje emphasized that the party is well-prepared to secure the governorship seat in Ondo during the upcoming election in November. He further noted that the APC’s focus will shift toward unseating the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Anambra next year.

Ganduje pointed out that the APC’s recent successes are part of a larger strategy to increase its presence in the southeastern region, where the party aims to diminish APGA’s influence. He described the APC’s efforts as part of a broader project named the “political demarginalization of the South-East geopolitical zone.”
“We have already developed strategies to secure these states, and next year, Anambra will follow,” said Ganduje. “We currently have two states in the Southeast, but for a party of our size, two is not enough. We will work hard to recover many more states in our favor.”
The APC’s recent victory in Edo has bolstered its confidence as it looks to maintain its stronghold in Ondo and expand its influence in the Southeast, setting the stage for a politically active 2024.
The upcoming elections in Ondo and Anambra will be closely watched as the APC intensifies its efforts to assert dominance across multiple regions.
