APC National Chairman Yilwatda Condemns Niger State Killings

Abuja, Nigeria – January 6, 2026

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, has strongly condemned the recent attacks on communities in Agwara and Borgu Local Government Areas of Niger State, which have led to the loss of many lives.

In a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Communication Strategy, Abimbola Tooki, Professor Yilwatda expressed deep concern over reports of sustained violence across the affected communities. The statement highlighted killings in Kasuwan Daji and Kaima, the burning of markets, the destruction of homes and places of worship, as well as the abduction of pupils.

The APC National Chairman described the incidents as tragic and unacceptable, noting that such acts of violence undermine peace, security, and communal harmony. He sympathized with Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago, the government, and the people of Niger State, particularly the families and communities who have suffered painful and irreparable losses. He also prayed for God to grant eternal rest to the deceased and comfort to those left behind.

Professor Yilwatda commended the swift response of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, through the Ministry of Defence, the Service Chiefs, and other security agencies, for their prompt actions to track down and apprehend the perpetrators. He urged security forces to ensure that those responsible are brought to justice without delay, while reaffirming the APC’s commitment to supporting all efforts aimed at restoring peace and safeguarding lives and property across the country.
