Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa Launches Nationwide Groundbreaking for ‘Renewed Hope’ Cities and Estates
The Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, has initiated the official groundbreaking ceremony for the first phase of the Renewed Hope Cities and Estates project, signaling the commencement of construction for 1,250 housing units across four states in Northern Nigeria.

This initiative follows the official launch of the program by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, with a project featuring 3,112 housing units in Karsana, Abuja, in February 2024. With reputable developers mobilized and the contracting process successfully completed, the groundwork is laid for this ambitious endeavor.

The groundbreaking ceremonies will take place as follows:
- 250 housing units at Renewed Hope Estate in Katsina on Wednesday, May 22, 2024
- 500 housing units at Renewed Hope City in Kano on Thursday, May 23, 2024
- 250 housing units at Renewed Hope Estate in Yobe on Friday, May 24, 2024
- 250 housing units at Renewed Hope Estate in Gombe on Saturday, May 25, 2024
Arc. Dangiwa expressed the ministry’s dedication to President Tinubu’s vision of transforming the nation into a construction hub, leveraging the housing sector to generate employment, drive economic growth, and contribute to Nigeria’s $1 trillion economy while fostering national development.
Highlighting progress made under the 2023 Supplementary budget, the Minister disclosed that contracts for 3,500 housing units across 13 states have been awarded since December 2023. These include 500 housing units in Kano and 250 units in each of the following states: Katsina, Sokoto, Yobe, Gombe, Nasarawa, Benue, Osun, Oyo, Abia, Ebonyi, Delta, and Akwa Ibom.
The housing configurations for the Renewed Hope City in Kano and the Renewed Hope Estates in Katsina, Yobe, and Gombe are designed to meet various needs and income levels, with provisions for expansion as beneficiaries’ financial capacities grow over time.
Arc. Dangiwa emphasized the project’s commitment to affordability and adaptability, ensuring that one-bedroom units can be expanded to accommodate larger households as beneficiaries’ circumstances evolve.
