Army Boosts Troop Welfare: 70 Frontline Personnel Receive New Housing
In a significant boost to troop welfare, the Nigerian Army has allocated housing to 70 personnel serving on the frontline, reaffirming its commitment to improving living conditions for those combating insecurity across the nation.

The housing initiative, implemented under the 2024 capital appropriation projects within the 7 Division Area of Responsibility, includes five senior non-commissioned officers’ (SNCO) blocks and two blocks of 30 flats designated for corporals and below.
The move is in line with the welfare-focused command philosophy of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, who has emphasized the importance of enhancing troop morale as a strategy in tackling national security threats.
“This allocation directly addresses the harsh realities faced by our frontline troops and is a tangible step toward boosting their well-being,” an army official stated during the presentation ceremony.
The flats are expected to improve operational efficiency by providing a stable and secure home environment for military personnel and their families, particularly those risking their lives in volatile areas.
The initiative is part of a broader effort to strengthen the internal cohesion and morale of the Nigerian Army amid ongoing insurgency, banditry, and terrorism challenges in the northern regions.
