Avoid “Get-Rich-Quick” Syndrome, Olukoyede Charges Corp Members

The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), , has charged members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to shun the temptation of the “get-rich-quick” syndrome, warning that it often leads to involvement in economic and financial crimes.

Olukoyede gave the charge through the Acting Zonal Director of the EFCC Kaduna Zonal Directorate, ACE I Ahmed M. Ghali, during a courtesy visit by officials of the Anti-Corruption Community Development Service (CDS) Group, Kaduna South Local Government Area of , to the Commission’s directorate.
He urged the corps members to remain steadfast in integrity and hard work, emphasizing that sustainable success can only be achieved through legitimate means. According to him, the lure of quick wealth has derailed many promising young Nigerians, exposing them to legal consequences and long-term reputational damage.

“The future you desire cannot be built on fraudulent foundations,” Olukoyede stated. “As young graduates serving the nation, you must resist the pressure to engage in unlawful activities and instead focus on building careers and enterprises you will be proud of after your service year.”

He commended the Anti-Corruption CDS Group for its commitment to promoting transparency and accountability at the grassroots level, noting that the EFCC remains open to partnerships that foster ethical values among youths.
Olukoyede further encouraged the corps members to act as ambassadors of integrity within their host communities, stressing that the fight against corruption requires collective responsibility and vigilance.

The EFCC boss reiterated the Commission’s resolve to intensify public enlightenment campaigns aimed at preventing economic and financial crimes, particularly among young people, who are often targeted and exploited by criminal networks.
He advised the corps members to take advantage of skill acquisition and entrepreneurship opportunities during and after their NYSC year, as a pathway to financial independence without compromising their values.
The visit concluded with a renewed pledge by the Anti-Corruption CDS Group to continue supporting the EFCC’s mandate through advocacy and community engagement.
