BAUCHI STATE @50: GOVERNOR BALA PLANS BAUCHI TO LEAD NORTH EAST ECONOMY BY 2033
Bauchi, 10th February, 2026
Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has expressed strong optimism that the long-term development plans of his administration will position Bauchi State as the leading economic and infrastructural hub in the North East by the year 2033.
The Governor made this known at a public lecture organized to mark the 50th anniversary of the creation of Bauchi State. The golden jubilee lecture was held at the International Conference Centre, Bauchi, and formed part of activities commemorating the state’s creation in 1976.
According to Governor Bala Mohammed, his administration is deliberately laying a solid framework aimed at driving sustainable growth, attracting investors, and unlocking the vast economic potential of the state. He noted that with proper planning, inclusive governance, and continuity of policies, Bauchi has the capacity to lead the North East region in economic and infrastructural development within the next decade.
Reporting on the event, Zainab Agboola stated that the lecture attracted an array of dignitaries, including past military administrators and democratically elected governors of the state, as well as a delegation from the European Union. The gathering provided a platform for reflection on the state’s journey over the past five decades and discussions on its future direction.
The golden jubilee lecture highlighted the Bauchi State Government’s long-term strategies to create an investor-friendly environment that will stimulate economic growth, boost infrastructure, and address critical development needs across the state.
Past military and civilian governors who participated as discussants emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in shaping the future of Bauchi State. They called for unity of purpose, urging stakeholders to prioritize the state’s long-term development above party affiliations and other divisional interests.
The lecture, themed “Honouring the Past and Building the Future,” focused on promoting structural value, sustainable development, and continuity in governance as key pillars for the progress of Bauchi State as it looks ahead to the next 50 years.
