BREAKING: NCOS Suspends Officers Involved in Bobrisky Investigationm

The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCOS) has announced the suspension of several senior officers following the recent investigation into the allegations involving Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky. This decision comes in the wake of accusations surrounding Bobrisky’s alleged preferential treatment during his sentence.

The suspended officers include:

  1. Michael Anugwa, Deputy Controller of Corrections (DCC), who was in charge of the Medium Security Custodial Centre (MSCC), Kiri-kiri, Lagos State.
  2. Sikiru Adekunle, Deputy Controller of Corrections (DCC), overseeing the Maximum-Security Custodial Centre (MSCC), Kiri-kiri, Lagos State.

In addition, the NCOS has taken the step to suspend ASC II Ogbule Samuel Obinna, who was responsible for the Medium Security Custodial Centre (MSCC) in Afikpo, Ebonyi State, due to allegations that he escorted a convicted inmate outside the facility without authorization.

Another senior officer, Iloafonsi Kevin Ikechukwu, Deputy Controller of Corrections (DCC) in charge of the Medium Security Custodial Centre (MSCC) in Kuje-Abuja, has also been suspended following accusations of accepting financial payments on behalf of an inmate.

The suspensions come as part of the NCOS’s efforts to ensure accountability and uphold the integrity of the nation’s correctional system. Further investigations into the allegations are underway to determine the extent of the officers’ involvement.

This move by the NCOS underscores the Service’s commitment to addressing concerns related to misconduct and ensuring justice in the management of Nigeria’s correctional institutions.
