In a significant security operation, the Nigeria Customs Service has intercepted a container filled with an arsenal of new weaponry and live bullets shipped from Turkey to Nigeria. The discovery, made in Rivers State, includes an estimated 844 pump-action rifles, Bazinet kits, and 112,500 pieces of live ammunition, with an estimated value of N4 billion.

The contraband was expertly concealed using various items such as doors, furniture, plumbing fittings, and leather bags. This tactic was intended to avoid detection by customs officials.

Customs officials are currently investigating the origins and intended recipients of the shipment. This seizure is part of an ongoing effort by the Nigerian government to curb the illegal importation of arms and ammunition into the country, which poses a significant threat to national security.
The interception of this shipment highlights the vigilance and effectiveness of the Nigeria Customs Service in its efforts to maintain security and prevent the proliferation of illegal arms in Nigeria. Further details on the investigation and any subsequent actions will be released as they become available.
