Team Ogun has delivered a stellar performance at the 8th National Youth Games, currently taking place in Asaba, Delta State, demonstrating the remarkable progress of grassroots sports development in Ogun State. The team’s impressive medal haul, as of September 16th, includes 5 Gold, 6 Silver, and 9 Bronze medals, placing them among the standout performers at the prestigious event.
Ogun State’s athletes have particularly excelled in Shooting, where they secured 3 Gold, 1 Silver, and 1 Bronze medal. Among the highlights was Onabiyi Atinuke Imoleayo’s record-breaking feat in the Female 10m Air Rifle event, setting a new national record. Her outstanding performance, along with that of her teammates, earned invitations from the Nigeria Shooting Sports Federation (NSSF) to join the national team.
The team also celebrated victories in other sports, including a Silver medal in Golf and a Bronze in Scrabble. Additionally, the state’s badminton players have advanced to the quarterfinals, further reflecting the depth of talent within the squad.
