Cancer, the leading cause of over 10 million deaths all over the world is a disease in which abnormal cells divide uncontrollably and destroy body tissues. Cancer can be hereditary and at the same time, acquired. It can be hereditary in the sense that it is passed from one generation to another. For instance, if a family member has cancer, there is a high risk for other members of the family inheriting it.

  Types of Cancer                             

There are different types of cancer, some common types are;
Breast cancer.
Prostate cancer.
Basal cell cancer.
Melanoma cancer.
Colon cancer.
Lung cancer.
Leukemia.
Lymphoma.

Causes


Cancer could be inherited and also caused by environmental factors. This disease is caused by changes to genes that control the way our cells functions, especially how they grow and divide.
Some environmental causes of cancers are;
. Exposure to chemical and toxic substances, example tobacco.
. Diets and obesity.
. Infections.
. Strong exposure to sunlight resulting to skin cancer.


Preventions


In hereditary cases, there is a low risk of cancer prevention but in environmental cases, there are loads of steps to take to prevent this disease. Some of these tips are;
. Avoid the use of tobacco.
. Eat healthy diets.
. Maintain a healthy weight and be physically active.
. Protect yourself from harsh sunlight.
. Get vaccinated.
