Chief Ajuri Ngelale Takes Indefinite Leave to Address Family Medical Issues
Chief Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Publicity, has announced that he will be taking an indefinite leave of absence to focus on pressing personal medical matters affecting his family.
In a statement released today, Ngelale explained his decision to step away from his duties following consultations with his family due to an escalating medical situation at home. He noted that the decision, though difficult, was made after thorough consideration of the circumstances.
“On Friday, I submitted a memo to the Chief of Staff to the President informing my office that I am proceeding on an indefinite leave of absence to frontally deal with medical matters presently affecting my immediate, nuclear family,” Ngelale stated.
He acknowledged the importance of his role in government but emphasized that the current situation required his full attention. “While I fully appreciate that the ship of state waits for no man, this agonizing decision… was taken after significant consultations with my family over the past several days as a vexatious medical situation has worsened at home.”
Ngelale, who also serves as the Official Spokesperson of the President, Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Action, and Chairman of the Presidential Steering Committee on Project Evergreen, expressed hope that he would return to full-time national service when the situation allows.
“I look forward to returning to full-time national service when time, healing, and fate permit,” he said.
In closing, Ngelale requested privacy for himself and his family during this challenging period. “I respectfully ask for some privacy for my family and I during this time,” he added.
No further details regarding the nature of the medical issues were provided, and it is unclear how long Ngelale will be away from his official duties.
