COAS VOWS RELENTLESS ONSLAUGHT AGAINST CRIMINAL NETWORKS AS HE HOSTS KOGI GOVERNOR

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, Nigerian Army Medal, has reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s unwavering resolve to confront and dismantle criminal networks threatening peace and stability in Kogi State and across the country. He gave the assurance on Tuesday, 25 November 2025, while receiving the Executive Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo, at the Army Headquarters in Abuja.


Lieutenant General Shaibu reiterated the Army’s commitment to protecting lives and property, stressing that all necessary resources will continue to be deployed to counter emerging and persistent security threats. He noted that the Nigerian Army remains focused on maintaining an aggressive operational tempo aimed at neutralising criminal elements and restoring stability nationwide. The COAS further pledged to deepen strategic cooperation with state governments, highlighting the importance of a robust security architecture to entrench lasting peace.
In his remarks, Governor Usman Ahmed Ododo congratulated Lieutenant General Shaibu on his appointment as the 25th Chief of Army Staff, describing it as a well-deserved recognition of his competence, dedication, and leadership. He expressed gratitude to the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for entrusting the leadership of the Nigerian Army to a seasoned and capable officer at a crucial juncture in the nation’s security journey.


Governor Ododo commended the Nigerian Army for its unwavering role in safeguarding national security, acknowledging the complex and evolving threats facing the country. He stressed the need for unified efforts in confronting these challenges and pledged the full support of the Kogi State Government for ongoing and future military operations within the state.
