COLLEGE OF EDUCATION, AKWANGA: Tinubu Commissions New School of Science Complex in Nasarawa
AKWANGA, NASARAWA STATE – May 30, 2026
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commissioned the newly completed School of Science Complex at the College of Education, Akwanga, Nasarawa State, in a move aimed at strengthening science education and enhancing teacher training in Nigeria’s North-Central region.
The inauguration of the modern two-storey facility forms part of the Federal Government’s efforts to improve educational infrastructure and expand access to quality tertiary education under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
The School of Science Complex features a total floor area of over 1,000 square metres, comprising a 510-square-metre upper floor and a 497-square-metre ground floor. The facility is designed to provide a conducive learning and research environment for students and academic staff.
Key facilities within the complex include conventional reading areas, fully equipped e-libraries for staff and students, offices for the Chief Librarian and faculty members, reference and inquiry sections, reception areas, and dedicated study spaces.
Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, President Tinubu emphasized the importance of investing in education as a foundation for national development, noting that improved infrastructure remains critical to producing highly skilled educators and professionals.
The new science complex is expected to significantly enhance the training of science teachers, support academic research, and improve learning outcomes for students at the institution.
Stakeholders in the education sector have described the project as a major boost to tertiary education in Nasarawa State and the wider North-Central zone, highlighting its potential to strengthen science and technology education while addressing the growing demand for quality teacher training facilities.
The commissioning marks another milestone in the Federal Government’s commitment to upgrading educational institutions across the country and creating an enabling environment for academic excellence.
