DEFENCE MINISTER CHARGES OFFICERS ON INTER-AGENCY COLLABORATION
Abuja, Nigeria — December 11, 2025
The Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa, has urged newly promoted senior officers of the Nigerian Army to strengthen inter-agency collaboration as part of efforts to address pressing national and regional security challenges.
General Musa gave the charge during the investiture ceremony of 28 newly promoted Major Generals and Brigadier Generals, where he emphasized that seamless cooperation among the Armed Forces and other security agencies remains essential to safeguarding the nation.
According to him, the evolving nature of security threats requires a unified front, robust intelligence sharing, and coordinated operations across all security formations. He commended the officers for their career progression and reminded them that higher responsibility demands deeper commitment, professionalism, and strategic leadership.
In his remarks, the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, highlighted the need to intensify efforts toward addressing the dynamic security landscape in Nigeria. He noted that the country continues to face complex threats—including insurgency, banditry, and emerging transnational crimes—while the West African region grapples with political instability that has implications for national security.
General Shaibu urged the newly promoted officers to approach their duties with renewed dedication, strategic insight, and a clear understanding of the broader regional security context. He reaffirmed the Army’s commitment to defending the nation’s sovereignty and ensuring peace across all operational theatres.
The ceremony marked not only a milestone in the careers of the officers but also a renewed call for unity, collaboration, and proactive leadership in strengthening Nigeria’s security architecture.
