Defence Minister General Musa Inaugurates Troops Quarters in Sokoto; Affirms Government Resolve To End Criminalities

Sokoto, Nigeria, February 7, 2026

The Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa, has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s unwavering resolve to end criminality across the country and strengthen internal security through sustained efforts and national unity.

General Musa gave the assurance on Thursday while inaugurating the renovated and remodelled Corporals and Below Quarters at the Giginya Cantonment in Sokoto, a project aimed at providing improved and decent accommodation for personnel of the Armed Forces of Nigeria.
Speaking at the event, the Defence Minister described the renovation of the quarters as part of the Federal Government’s broader commitment to enhancing the welfare, morale, and operational effectiveness of military personnel who continue to make sacrifices in the defence of the nation.

According to him, the fight against insecurity requires not only modern equipment and intelligence but also the well-being of troops, noting that improved living conditions play a critical role in boosting the confidence and dedication of officers and men on the frontlines.

General Musa stressed that the Federal Government, under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, remains determined to tackle all forms of criminality, including banditry, terrorism, kidnapping, and other threats to national peace and stability.

He further called on Nigerians to support the Armed Forces and other security agencies, emphasizing that unity, cooperation, and collective responsibility are essential to achieving lasting peace and security across the country.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by senior military officers, government officials, and community leaders, who commended the initiative and expressed confidence that the improved facilities would positively impact troop performance and welfare.

The Defence Minister concluded by assuring that similar welfare-driven projects would continue across military formations nationwide as part of ongoing reforms within the defence sector.
