Diego Maradona: The Phenomenal Argentine Icon

Diego Armando Maradona was born on the 30th of October, 1960, Lanus, Buenos Aires, Argentinas, He is a  player who is regarded as the top footballer of the 1980s and one of the greatest footballer of all time. Popularly known for his ability to control the ball and create great scoring chances for himself and others, he was outstanding in his football years, breaking grounds in Italy, Spain, and Argentina, his name skyrocketed the 1980s

Diego Maradona showcased his talents, and at age of  eight he joined Las Cebollitas, an academy team who was very popular at that time, afterwards he was selected to join the junio team of Argentina, it only took him few months to called to the national team, he was the youngest of all and this was due to his sharpness, agility,  and technicality.

Maradona moved to Boca Juniors in 1981 and  was had successful stints there until he was signed by Fc Barcelona in 1982, and in the next year, he was moved to the great Italian side, SSC Napoli, he was there for over a decade and enjoyed great seasons there winning silverware and trophies, in the world cup 1986, his controversial goal popularly known as the “Hand Of God” against England was the talk of the competition, he was the man of the competition with his dazzling skills and goals.

Maradona football career was filled with great moments and great achievements, though he was controversial because he was a drug addict and was numerously suspended for that obnoxious act, but he was one of the players that made people and the society fell in love in football, he died in the early hours of November 25, 2020 in Bueno Aires in Argentina, he will forever remembered as one of the iconic figures of soccer.
