EFCC Arrests 20 for Suspected Electoral Fraud in FCT Council Polls

Operatives of the (EFCC) on Saturday, February 21, 2026, arrested 20 suspects for alleged electoral offences during the just-concluded Federal Capital Territory (FCT) local government elections.
The arrests were carried out across the following coordinated surveillance and monitoring operations by the anti-graft agency. The suspects were apprehended for offences ranging from vote buying and vote selling to obstruction of electoral officers.
According to the EFCC, a total sum of N17,218,700 (Seventeen Million, Two Hundred and Eighteen Thousand, Seven Hundred Naira) was recovered from the suspects. Notably, one individual was arrested with N13,500,000 (Thirteen Million, Five Hundred Thousand Naira) concealed in a vehicle parked beside a polling unit in the area council.
A breakdown of the arrests shows that two suspects were apprehended in , nine in , four in , and the remaining four in Kwali.
The EFCC reiterated its commitment to safeguarding the integrity of Nigeria’s electoral process, warning that individuals found culpable of electoral malpractice will face the full weight of the law.
The suspects are expected to be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
