EFCC to Collaborate with UK Prosecutors in Diezani Case
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is set to join forces with UK prosecutors in the ongoing legal proceedings involving former Nigerian Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke.

According to reports from The Nation, a team from the EFCC will travel to London to facilitate the process of submitting legal documents and actively participate in the case against Diezani.
The decision to collaborate with UK prosecutors comes as Nigeria seeks to recover assets linked to funds allegedly looted by Diezani during her tenure as a minister. The EFCC believes that Nigeria stands to benefit from Diezani’s trial, particularly in the recovery of assets acquired with stolen funds.
The EFCC has accumulated substantial evidence against Diezani, including court orders relating to her properties and vehicles worth millions of dollars. Allegations against Diezani involve the misappropriation of approximately $2.5 billion from Nigeria’s coffers during her time in office.
With the collaboration between the EFCC and UK authorities, Nigeria aims to replicate the success of previous asset recovery efforts, such as the case involving former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Alison-Madueke.
It is anticipated that the EFCC’s involvement in the UK proceedings will bolster Nigeria’s efforts to hold accountable those responsible for corruption and ensure that recovered assets are returned to the country for the benefit of its citizens.
The exact details of the collaboration between the EFCC and UK prosecutors, as well as the potential outcomes of the case, are yet to be fully determined. However, the EFCC remains committed to pursuing justice and recovering stolen assets on behalf of the Nigerian people.
