EFCC Warns Promoters of Planned Protest
Abuja, Nigeria — The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has issued a public alert regarding a planned protest allegedly orchestrated by a shadowy group. This group has been actively campaigning on social media, recruiting impressionable young Nigerians, including students, to participate in a protest against the Commission.

The EFCC has identified this campaign as an effort to resist its operational activities, particularly in enforcing laws against cybercrimes. The Commission expressed alarm over emerging evidence suggesting a grand design by corrupt elements, who are currently under investigation or prosecution, to exploit the protest to incite a national uprising that could jeopardize the peace and security of Nigeria.
“As a responsible law enforcement organization, the Commission will not tolerate any breakdown of law and order, especially around its office locations across Nigeria,” the EFCC stated. The Commission assured the public that it is taking necessary measures, in collaboration with sister security agencies, to address potential threats to national peace and security.
The EFCC also appealed to parents, guardians, and heads of tertiary institutions to ensure that their wards are not recruited for use in a proxy war against the Commission by vested corrupt interests. The Commission emphasized that its fight against corruption and cybercrime is crucial to protecting the future of Nigerian youth.
“The future is imperiled if Nigeria degenerates further in global reckoning as a den of fraudsters,” the EFCC warned.
The Commission’s appeal comes amid its ongoing efforts to combat corruption and cybercrime, aiming to safeguard the country’s integrity and secure a better future for its younger generations.
