Enugu State Governor Mbah Lauds DSS Over Arrest Of High-Risk Criminals; Pledges Continued Support
Enugu, Nigeria – April 7, 2026
Governor of Enugu State, Peter Mbah, has commended operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) for the arrest of high-profile kidnappers and gunrunners operating within the state.
The Governor gave the commendation during a visit to the Agency’s State Headquarters in Enugu, where he praised the Service for its commitment to tackling insecurity.
Governor Mbah expressed particular delight over the arrest of a high-target gang leader who had been responsible for a series of attacks on security operatives as well as kidnapping for ransom in Enugu and its environs. He noted that residents would finally experience relief from the suspect’s reign of terror across the state and the wider Southeast region.
He also expressed dismay at how able-bodied individuals could abandon human decency to engage in heinous crimes, stressing that the full weight of the law would be brought to bear on those responsible.
The Governor further applauded the DSS for its professionalism, discipline, and critical role in ensuring a peaceful Easter celebration across the state. He urged the command to sustain the momentum, describing security as a core responsibility of government.
He noted that the people of Enugu State remain grateful for the peaceful atmosphere, particularly during the Easter period, which he attributed to the combined efforts of the DSS and other security agencies.
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment, Governor Mbah expressed optimism that sustained collaboration among security agencies would rid the state of criminal elements. He also reiterated his vision of making Enugu a leading hub for tourism, business, and comfortable living.
