FCT CP / PCRC CALL ON CITIZENS TO SUPPORT GOVERNMENT’S EFFORT TO IMPROVE SECURITY ARCHITECTURE

Abuja, Nigeria — 2026

The Commissioner of Police, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, CP Miller Dantawaye, in collaboration with the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), has called on Nigerians to actively support the current administration’s deliberate efforts aimed at strengthening security infrastructure across the country to ensure a safer environment for sustainable development.

Onotu Yakubu reports that the call was made during the 2026 first quarterly meeting of the PCRC, FCT Chapter, held with the management of the FCT Police Command in Abuja.
Speaking at the meeting, CP Miller Dantawaye emphasized the critical role of community participation in modern policing. He noted that from neighbourhood intelligence gathering to patrol support and youth sensitisation campaigns, the PCRC has built a strong legacy of cooperation, helping to bridge gaps of mistrust that once existed between citizens and the police.
According to the Commissioner, the committee has continued to promote a shared vision of citizen-driven intelligence as a vital pillar of national security, stressing that effective policing thrives on trust, timely information, and collective responsibility.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the PCRC FCT Chapter, Professor Rufus Ebegba, described security as the foundation for economic growth, social stability, and national prosperity. He therefore urged residents of the FCT to cooperate fully with security agencies by providing useful information and intelligence to help sustain peace across communities.
Professor Ebegba particularly highlighted the need for heightened vigilance and cooperation as the Area Council Elections approach, noting that proactive community engagement would help prevent security breaches and ensure a peaceful electoral process.

Also speaking at the meeting, the National Chairman of the PCRC reaffirmed the committee’s commitment to uniting communities and the police through the Enhanced Citizens’ Engagement and Community Support for National Security initiative. He stressed that a united front between citizens and law enforcement remains essential in addressing emerging security challenges nationwide.

The meeting concluded with renewed assurances of collaboration between the FCT Police Command and the PCRC to deepen community policing efforts and enhance the overall security architecture of the Federal Capital Territory.
