FCT POLICE FOIL PLANNED ATTACK, NEUTRALIZE NOTORIOUS BANDITS, RECOVER ARMS AND AMMUNITION

Abuja, 1st December 2025

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has successfully averted a planned large-scale attack on an unidentified community within the Territory, following credible intelligence and a swift, coordinated tactical operation by the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit.

This major breakthrough comes in the wake of recent kidnapping incidents in ACO Community, Gwagwalada, and Bwari. In response to these threats, the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, directed the Anti-Kidnapping Unit to intensify efforts to track down and dismantle the criminal syndicate responsible for the attacks.
Intelligence gathered during investigations revealed that the gang had finalized preparations to launch yet another violent attack on or before December 1, 2025. Their plan included abducting residents, demanding ransom, and inflicting further terror on the targeted community.

Acting promptly on the information, police operatives on 30th November 2025, at about 02:11 PM, tracked and arrested a key conspirator—Sani Mohammed Umar, popularly known as “Boko”, a wanted kidnapper and armed robbery suspect. His mobile phone, believed to be the primary communication device used in coordinating the gang’s activities, was recovered.
Investigations confirmed that the suspect was a member of the criminal group responsible for the earlier attacks and kidnappings in ACO, Dupa, and Gwagwalada, as well as multiple armed robbery operations across Gwagwalada, Kuje, and Kwali. He confessed that his gang members were already stationed at Gada Biyu Hills, Kwali, awaiting his arrival to commence their planned community assault.

At about 11:01 PM on the same day, the Anti-Kidnapping team, led by the Officer-in-Charge (OC) Anti-Kidnapping, strategically advanced into the forest to intercept the gang. Upon reaching the bandits’ meeting point, operatives set up a carefully planned ambush. The heavily armed criminals opened fire on sighting the officers, prompting a fierce 30-minute gun duel.
Three (3) of the bandits were neutralized during the exchange, while others fled into the forest with suspected gunshot wounds.
Items recovered from the scene include:
Three (3) AK-47 rifles
Three magazines containing thirty-three (33) rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition
A joint operation involving Police operatives and the Forward Operation Base (FOB) of the Nigerian Army, 176 Battalion, Kwali, is currently underway. Teams are combing the forest and blocking possible escape routes. Medical facilities across the region have also been alerted to immediately report any individual presenting with bullet wounds to the nearest security agency or contact the Command via 08032003913, 08061581938.

The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, commended the gallantry, professionalism, and resilience of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit. He also extended appreciation to members of the public for their timely and actionable intelligence, urging residents to remain vigilant and continue providing useful information to security agencies.
