FCTA STAFF BEGIN INDEFINITE STRIKE

Abuja, Monday, January 19, 2026

Activities at the Secretariats of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) and the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) were grounded following an indefinite strike embarked upon by the Joint Union Action Committee (JUAC) over demands for improved working conditions.
As early as Monday morning, the main gates of the FCTA and FCDA secretariats were placed under lock and key, preventing staff and visitors from gaining access to the complex for their daily official activities.
Many workers remained at home in strict compliance with the industrial action, as the unions seek to press home their demands for better welfare and improved working conditions within the FCTA.

The Chairperson of the Joint Union Action Committee urged members to maintain the status quo and remain resolute until further directives are issued by the union leadership.
Meanwhile, long queues of vehicles were seen parked along the shoulders of adjoining roads, a clear indication of the shutdown of activities within the secretariat complex and what union leaders described as a “no retreat, no surrender” stance by the JUAC leadership.

The strike has continued to disrupt administrative and developmental activities in the nation’s capital, with no immediate resolution in sight.
