Federal Government Advises Nigerians in Lebanon to Return Home Amid Escalating Conflict
The Federal Government of Nigeria has urged its citizens currently residing in Lebanon to consider returning home due to escalating violence between Hezbollah and Israel. The advisory, issued by the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), comes as tensions rise in the region, leading to increased concerns for the safety of Nigerians abroad.

In a statement released by Abdur-Rahman Balogun, Director of Media, Public Relations, and Protocols Unit at NiDCOM, the government expressed its concern over the ongoing attacks in Lebanon, particularly in the southern regions where most of the conflict has been concentrated. While many Nigerians have already relocated to safer areas, the government advises those remaining in Lebanon to take advantage of available commercial flights to return home.
“Though information from the Nigerian community in Lebanon indicates that most Nigerians have relocated from the southern part and are now relatively safe, we hereby advise them to keep safe until the ceasefire is in place,” the statement read.
Balogun reassured the Nigerian community that there have been no reports of any injuries or accidents involving Nigerian citizens so far. However, the government urged citizens to continue prioritizing their safety and to maintain communication with the Nigerian Embassy in Lebanon for further guidance.
“Nigerians are equally advised to liaise with our Embassy in Lebanon for necessary guidance regarding their safety, and be assured that their welfare is of utmost concern to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” Balogun added.
The advisory is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to ensure the safety and well-being of its citizens amid the conflict, which has escalated significantly in recent days.
NiDCOM emphasized that the situation is being closely monitored and urged Nigerian nationals to act swiftly while commercial flights are still operational.
For further assistance, Nigerians in Lebanon are advised to contact the Nigerian Embassy for immediate support.
