Federal Government Vows to Overhaul Power Sector for Long-Term Solutions
The Federal Government has reiterated its commitment to resolving the longstanding challenges plaguing the power sector, with a focus on implementing sustainable solutions for lasting impact. Adebayo Adelabu, the Minister of Power, underscored this commitment during a press briefing following a meeting with All Progressives Congress (APC) members at the Oyo State party headquarters in Ibadan.
Addressing the press, Minister Adelabu emphasized the government’s determination to revolutionize the power sector under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu. He reassured Nigerians that comprehensive efforts are underway to address the root causes of the sector’s challenges, spanning every aspect of the power value chain.
“We are addressing all the problems associated with all the segments of the power sector value chain – from gas supply to generation, to transmission, to distribution and to the customers themselves,” Minister Adelabu stated. “There are a lot of things that we are doing that Nigerians will soon start seeing.”
Acknowledging the incremental improvements witnessed in certain areas, Minister Adelabu emphasized that the ultimate goal is to achieve a transformative shift towards adequate, stable, and reliable power supply nationwide. He likened the ongoing efforts to a journey, highlighting the inevitability of facing challenges and disruptions along the way.
“While we are repairing, people must help us to bear the little pains that will come with it,” Minister Adelabu remarked. “But at the end of the day, we will make gains. For you to make an omelet, you must break eggs. This is the period of breaking the eggs. Very soon, we will start eating our omelet.”
Expressing his unwavering determination to surmount the obstacles in the power sector, Minister Adelabu affirmed that tangible progress will soon become evident, culminating in improved services and enhanced efficiency. He urged Nigerians to remain patient and supportive as the government works tirelessly to effect transformative changes in the power sector.
“I am determined to solve the problems in the power sector and Nigerians will start singing our good songs very soon,” Minister Adelabu concluded, expressing optimism for a brighter future marked by sustainable power supply and economic prosperity.
