FG, CUSTOMS ADVANCE TRADE EFFICIENCY WITH NATIONAL SINGLE WINDOW

Ibadan, Nigeria,March 27, 2026

The Federal Government of Nigeria, in collaboration with the Nigeria Customs Service, has taken a major step toward improving trade efficiency with the advancement of the National Single Window initiative.

The development was announced via Aso Villa Digital, highlighting ongoing reforms aimed at modernizing Nigeria’s trade and port operations.

The National Single Window is a digital platform designed to streamline and simplify trade processes by integrating multiple government agencies involved in import and export activities into a single interface. This is expected to significantly reduce bureaucratic bottlenecks, eliminate duplication of procedures, and enhance transparency in trade transactions.

With the implementation of this system, traders and businesses will be able to process documentation, approvals, and payments more efficiently, thereby reducing delays at ports and improving overall turnaround time for cargo clearance.

Officials say the initiative will also strengthen revenue generation, curb smuggling, and improve compliance with international trade standards. It is further expected to enhance Nigeria’s competitiveness in global trade by aligning its processes with global best practices.

Stakeholders within the business community have welcomed the move, noting that the National Single Window will reduce the cost of doing business and create a more investor-friendly environment.

The Federal Government reaffirmed its commitment to leveraging technology-driven solutions to boost economic growth, facilitate trade, and position Nigeria as a leading hub for commerce in Africa.
