FG Declares October 1st as Public Holiday for 64th Independence Anniversary

The federal government has officially declared Tuesday, October 1, 2024, as a public holiday to mark Nigeria’s 64th Independence Anniversary. The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who emphasized the importance of reflecting on the progress and unity of the nation.

Tunji-Ojo urged Nigerians to use the opportunity to foster unity and peace, highlighting that this year’s celebration comes at a time when the country is implementing key reforms for economic growth and national development. He noted that the public holiday would allow citizens to celebrate the nation’s achievements and reflect on the collective responsibility to build a stronger, more prosperous Nigeria.

The minister further commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration for its efforts to drive change across various sectors, expressing optimism about the future of Nigeria.
