FG Signs Landmark Digital Eye Health MoU with Peek Vision

Abuja, 28 November, 2025

The Federal Government of Nigeria, through the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, has signed a landmark memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Peek Vision, a global digital eye health organization, in a strategic effort to eliminate avoidable blindness across the country.
Under this partnership, digital tools for eye screening are set to be deployed nationwide, enhancing the capacity of primary healthcare facilities while enabling real-time data-driven decision-making throughout Nigeria’s eye health system.

Recent data highlights that many Nigerians continue to experience preventable visual impairment, primarily due to cataracts and uncorrected refractive errors. The collaboration with Peek Vision aims to bridge gaps in eye care access and ensure timely interventions for those at risk.

The MoU covers digital screening initiatives, supported by a robust national data system, alongside training programs for primary healthcare workers. By strengthening the frontlines of eye care delivery, the initiative also contributes to the broader goal of universal health coverage in Nigeria.

Officials from both the government and Peek Vision emphasized that this partnership represents a significant step forward in leveraging technology to improve eye health outcomes and prevent avoidable blindness nationwide.
