FG, States, and Media Leaders Unite to Boost Health Outcomes in Nigeria

Kaduna, Nigeria – October 25, 2025

A High-Level Health Media Dialogue bringing together federal and state government representatives, media executives, and development partners has underscored the urgent need for stronger collaboration and advocacy to enhance Primary Health Care (PHC) delivery and improve health outcomes across Nigeria.

The event, themed “Strengthening Primary Healthcare: A Collaborative Approach to Reducing Maternal Mortality and Enhancing Child Health in Nigeria,” convened key stakeholders from across the country to reaffirm their shared commitment to advancing Nigeria’s health agenda—particularly in the areas of maternal and child health.

The dialogue served as a strategic platform to highlight the critical link between health, communication, policy, advocacy, and accountability, emphasizing the indispensable role of the media in shaping public perception, promoting health-seeking behaviors, and influencing policy reforms.
Speaking during the event, the Executive Governor of Kaduna State, Malam Uba Sani, shared insights into Kaduna’s ongoing healthcare revitalization efforts. He detailed the state’s progress through various impact-driven initiatives, acknowledged persistent challenges, and outlined plans for sustaining improvements in service delivery—especially at the primary healthcare level.

In his remarks, the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to transforming Nigeria’s health system through inclusive, multi-sectoral collaboration. He emphasized that effective partnerships between government, media, and development actors are essential for delivering sustainable and equitable healthcare to all Nigerians.
The initiative was organized by the International Society for Media in Public Health (ISMPH) under the Advocacy Solution Project, implemented by EngenderHealth with funding support from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The project operates within the Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child, Adolescent Health and Nutrition (RMNCAH+N) framework, which seeks to promote evidence-based advocacy, enhance accountability, and strengthen Nigeria’s health systems for improved outcomes.

By fostering dialogue and collaboration across sectors, the forum reaffirmed the collective resolve to reduce maternal and child mortality, expand access to quality PHC services, and build a healthier, more resilient Nigeria.
