First Lady Oluremi Tinubu Challenges Governors’ Wives to Lead State-Level Change Under Renewed Hope Initiative

Abuja, Nigeria – March 6, 2026
Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has called on the wives of state governors across the country to take proactive leadership roles in driving development and social impact at the state level through the Renewed Hope Initiative.
The First Lady made the call during an engagement in Abuja, where she emphasised the need for coordinated efforts to translate the objectives of the initiative into tangible benefits for citizens across Nigeria.
She urged governors’ spouses to leverage their unique positions and influence to champion programmes that address critical issues such as women’s empowerment, youth development, healthcare, and social welfare in their respective states.
According to Oluremi Tinubu, the Renewed Hope Initiative is designed to complement the broader development agenda of the Federal Government by fostering community-driven programmes that directly impact the lives of vulnerable groups.
The First Lady noted that the active involvement of governors’ wives is crucial in ensuring that the initiative’s programmes are effectively implemented at the grassroots level.
She also encouraged collaboration among states to share ideas, strengthen partnerships, and scale successful interventions that promote inclusive development.
The Renewed Hope Initiative is part of efforts by the Office of the First Lady to support national development priorities while promoting sustainable programmes aimed at improving the welfare of women, children, and families across Nigeria. 🇳🇬
