First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu Commends First Female Nigerian Graduate of UK’s Royal Military Academy

In a historic and commendable gesture, the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, warmly welcomed 2nd Lieutenant Princess Oluchukwu Owowoh to the State House on Monday. Owowoh, the first Nigerian female graduand of the prestigious Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst (RMAS) in the United Kingdom, was accompanied by Major General John Ochia, the Commandant of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA).

Senator Tinubu lauded Owowoh’s remarkable achievement, describing it as both outstanding and divinely ordained. She expressed admiration for the Nigerian Army’s decision to provide opportunities for female officers to excel and encouraged the nation’s youth to emulate Owowoh’s resilience and dedication. Furthermore, she urged young people to avoid destructive behaviors and instead strive for positive contributions to society.

In recognition of Owowoh’s exemplary performance, Senator Tinubu recommended her for a national award and encouraged her superiors to support her as she transitions into a role as a youth advocate, inspiring others to follow in her footsteps.

Earlier, Major General John Ochai, the Commandant of the NDA, highlighted Owowoh’s exceptional achievement, emphasizing its significance among cadets from various countries, including India, Pakistan, Qatar, the UK, Canada, and Australia, who undergo training at the renowned institution.

Owowoh’s success serves as a testament to the potential and capabilities of Nigerian women in the military and underscores the importance of providing equal opportunities for all individuals to excel in their chosen fields.
