First Lady’s Message on World Braille Day 2026
Abuja, January 4, 2026
Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has called for sustained national commitment to inclusion and accessibility, stressing that the country’s journey toward sustainable growth must leave no citizen behind.
In her message to mark World Braille Day 2026, the First Lady said Nigeria must continue to support all citizens to live full and independent lives by creating inclusive environments and strengthening policies and partnerships that empower everyone to participate confidently in nation-building.
She described Braille as a vital tool for inclusion, dignity, and independence for persons who are blind or visually impaired, noting that it remains central to ensuring equal access to knowledge and opportunities.
According to Senator Tinubu, the integration of Braille with modern technology is especially important in today’s digital age. She explained that when combined with technological innovations, Braille guarantees equal access to information and education, bridges the digital divide, and promotes accessibility in an increasingly digital world.
The First Lady reaffirmed her commitment to advocating for the rights and welfare of persons with disabilities, urging stakeholders across public and private sectors to continue working together to build a more inclusive society where no one is excluded from progress.
