FORMER GOVERNOR OF KADUNA STATE NASIR EL-RUFA’I AND JOEL ADOGA IN COURT OVER MONEY LAUNDERING

Kaduna, Nigeria — March 24, 2026
Former Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, and Joel Adoga have been brought before the Federal High Court in Kaduna over alleged money laundering and related offences.
In the charge preferred against them, the duo, as defendants, are facing trial on counts ranging from the conversion and possession of public property to money laundering. The allegations form part of an ongoing anti-corruption drive targeting the misuse of public funds.
During the arraignment, both defendants are expected to take their pleas before the court. The proceedings are anticipated to set the stage for what could become a high-profile legal battle, given the stature of the individuals involved and the nature of the charges.
The case is being prosecuted by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), which has intensified efforts to investigate and prosecute cases of corruption and financial crimes across the country.
Further details of the charges and subsequent court proceedings are expected to emerge as the trial progresses.
