In a tragic turn of events, Nick Imudia, the former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Konga, one of Nigeria’s leading e-commerce giants, has died by suicide. Imudia, who was the CEO of D.light, a prominent innovator in the distribution and financing of residential solar energy solutions and transformational household products, took his own life on the night of Tuesday, June 25.

According to sources, Imudia ended his life by jumping from the balcony of his apartment in Lekki, Lagos. Prior to this heartbreaking act, he reportedly called his US-based brother, providing instructions on how to distribute his wealth should anything happen to him. In a poignant conversation, he also spoke to his young daughter from a previous relationship, telling her he would always be there for her and that she only needed to look at the sky to see him.
The news has left his friends, family, and associates in profound shock and grief. There is no clear indication of why Imudia decided to take his own life, and those close to him are grappling with the sudden and inexplicable loss.
Nick Imudia hailed from the Ika South local government area of Delta State. He was previously married to the mother of his young daughter, who was also from the same local government. The marriage, however, ended due to irreconcilable differences. Imudia later remarried, this time to a Caucasian woman, and those who knew him believed he had found happiness and stability.
Before his tenure at Konga, Imudia held significant positions with TCL/Alcatel as a regional director and with Microsoft Device and Services as the General Manager/Managing Director for West and Central Africa. His career was marked by notable achievements, and he was well-regarded in the business community.
The untimely death of Nick Imudia has left a void in the hearts of those who knew him. His contributions to the business world, particularly in the tech and e-commerce sectors, are widely recognized. As the community mourns his passing, questions linger about the struggles he faced in his final moments.
For those struggling with thoughts of suicide, it is crucial to seek help. Support is available through various mental health resources and hotlines.
Nick Imudia’s legacy will be remembered by many, and his tragic end serves as a somber reminder of the importance of mental health and the unseen battles many may face.
